Dorsa Asadi

Dorsa Asadi is a Tehran based Artist who challenges the balance of dominance in patriarchal civilization on nature and women. The type of dominance which is shaped as a result of man s fear from the powers of the nature has first developed as mythology, has emerged into Capitalism and vast destruction in nature. In fact, Patriarchy has had a similar approach toward nature and women: To create narratives that glorify fertility to take advantage of nature s resources and to make women produce more workforce for it. She searches for the roots of this issue in Neolithic era in Iranian plateau. A n era which led to domesticating wheat, development of the very first human residence s and the invention of pottery that helped them to restore wheat, create more wealth and therefore power and the formation of the cities. Ceramics is the medium that she uses for making her works has direct reference to those times. Also, her painted and embroidered flags refers to the subject of land’s borders and at the same time womanly arts which were neglected tor years and considered as low art.
